Bio Note* | One of the earliest settlers in the western part of the town [Brattleboro, Vermont]. He came from Rhode Island in 1785 and located upon a farm on road nineteen. He was twice married, reared twelve children, and died August 8, 1862. His son Humphrey carried on the old farm until his death, May 17, 1883, the house threon having been built by Abel in 1800. Humphrey married Almira Joy and reared four children, two of whom, Andrew D. and Ida, lived on the old hoestead with their mother.9 |
