Research Comment* | James and Mary Toohey's three youngest children's WWI Draft registrations and Pennsylvania death certificates all list Conneaut, Ashtabula Ohio as their birthplace and James and Mary as parents. No record of their births can be found in available birth registers which cover the time period. A 1917 Erie Pennsylvania newspaper article, states that Wiliam Leo Toohey is the grandchild of Mary and his mother died when he was an infant. James and Mary's oldest known daughter is Mary Catherine who shows in the 1880 census (she was deaf) and can not be found in later records. Research Notes
|
Research Comment* | Peleg Moore is likely the son of John & Prudence Moore. John Moore's Revolutionary War Pension file names five of his sons alive in 1854. In an 1819 affidavit also within the pension file, John Moore indicates he had six living sons but did not list them. Peleg was not one of the names identified in 1854 but may be the additional son in 1819. An 1813 Windsor Vermont land deed between sons Joel and John, appears to discuss the disposition of their father's farm (previously passed down) and mentions many of their siblings. The deed includes a payment to Peleg Moore but does not indicate his relationship. Peleg Moore was married in 1812 in Windsor Vermont the same town where the Moore's resided. |
