"When the Civil War broke out Mr Fannin enlisted in the 12th Pennsylvania Cavalry and served three years and seven months. He was detailed as a member of the scouting party connected with Gen. Phil Sheridan's staff and made a gread record for bravery and efficiency in that line of military duty. He is mentioned in Gen. Sheridan's Memoirs as a scout of energy, daring and cleverness.
During the time he served as a scout, Mr Fannin had a number of exciting experiences and was once taken a captice at Staunton VA, where he had been sentenced to be shot at daybreak. During the night, howevery, he and his comrades dug themselves out of the prison and escaped.1,6 |

Bio Obit* | Dominic G. Fannin was born in Ontario, Canada, in 1845, and went to Erie with his parents when he was very young. For many years he was a resident of that city. He had resided in Bradford for 17 years, and for 15 years was employed by the B.R.&P. as a stationary engineer at the local shops. When the Civil war broke out Mr Fannin enlisted in the 12th Pennsylvania cavalry and served three years and seven months. He was detailed as a member of the scouting party connected with Gen. Phil Sheridan's staff and made a great record for bravery and efficiency in the line of military duty. He is mentioned in Gen. Sheridan's Memoirs as a scout of energy, daring and cleverness. During the time he served as a scout, Mr Fannin had a number of exciting experiences and was once taken a captive at Staunton, Va., where he had been sentenced to be shot at daybreak. Bio Obit* | Dr. Lyman Stearns Fannin was a prominent pediatrician. He was born Sept. 1, 1909 at Bradford, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Fannin. He attended local schools and was graduated from Bradford High School with the Class of 1927. He attended Allegany College in Meadville and Temple University of Philadelphia, from which he received his degree. Dr. Fannin took his residency in pediatrics at the Children Hospital in Buffalo, N.Y., from 1938 to 1939. He started his practice in Bradford in 1940. Dr. Fannin was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church; the Pennsylvania Medical Society; the American Medical Association; Union Lodge 334, Free and Accepted Masons; Coudersport Consistory; Bradford Elks Club; Pennhills Club; Valley Hunt Club; and the Zem Zem Shrine of Erie.2 |
