Bio Obit* | Took Prominent Part in Building Up of State and Had Many Friends
When a young man to Illinois and there joined a train starting for California, arriving in the golden state in 1852. He mined for a number of years in California and in 1857 returned to Illinois. He married in Illinois and in 1860 came to Nevada and made his home in Humboldt county, where he engaged in mining and stock talsing. He was chosen as assemblyman from that county for one term and later represented the people of that county in the state senate. Later he acted for a time as deputy warden at the Nevada state penitentiary, and was for a time city editor of the Evening Gazette. Later he was chosen justice of the peace of Reno township and was re-elected to this position several times.
Judge Linn was one of the best known men in the early history of Nevada, and has many friends in all portions of the state and especially in Reno and Washoe county, where he has lived for so many years. (Reno Evening Gazette, 7 Dec 1905)6 |
