Bio Obit* | Dr Gairdner funeral mass Thursday in Sherman Oaks.
A funeral mass for Dr. Thomas Molesworth Gairdner of Longridge Estates, former chief of staff at two area hospitals will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Church at Sherman Oaks. Dr Gairdner, physician and surgeon, was active in Valley civic, religious, cultural and philanthropic affairs.
He was a member of the staff of St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank for 33 years. he was chief of staff at Sherman Oaks Community Hospital in 1959. Dr Gairdner also was on the staff of Riverside Hospital, North Hollywood, and headed the staff there in 1952.
Before he came to California in 1944 to practice general medicine and surgery, Dr. Gairdner was medical director for the Dupont Co., in Wilmington, Delaware, and later went to Gibbstown, N.J., to be director of the Dupont Hospital for 13 years.
He interned at Long Island College Hospital and Cumberland Hospital in Brooklyn and served his residency in Midtown Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital, New York.3 |
