CONVILLE

William Conville, the son of Owen & Mary Kinsella Conville, was baptized on 25 Nov 1819 in Doonane Parish, County Laois, Ireland. William married Mary Brennan and immigrated to the United States with their eighteen year old son Patrick in 1874. Their son Owen followed eight years later in 1882. William, Patrick and Owen went to work in the Pennsylvania coal mines.

Patrick Conville married Catherine Killinger (daughter of Samuel & Phebe Mountain Killinger) in 1879 and became a naturalized U.S. citizen a year later. In 1880 they were living in Lilly, Cambria Co. Pennsylvania next door to his parents. Their family had grown to include the first of fifteen children. Ten of their children reached adulthood, Mary Lorena, Margaret Idona, Catherine Elizabeth, Della Monica, William, David Samuel, Rose Lorraine, Philip Charles, Veronical (Vera), and Idonnah (Mildred Catherine). Thomas W., Grace, Ruth and two others appear to have passed away in early childhood. By 1900, Patrick's oldest daughters had moved to Allegheny Co., Pennsylvania and were followed shortly by their parents and siblings. In 1910, Patrick, Catherine and their young children were living in Turtle Creek where Patrick was working as a laborer in an Electric Works factory (likely Westinghouse). In 1920 they were found to be living in Detroit, Michigan, where Patrick was now working as a laborer in an automobile factory. Shortly afterwards, they moved to Compton, Los Angeles Co., California. Their oldest daughters married and settled in western Pennsylvania. Mary married John C. Henkel, Catherine married Edward Fitzgerald, Margaret married Charles Burleycamp and Rose married Fred Streicher. The Burleycamps headed westward to Colorado and then Huntington Beach, Orange Co., California and were likely the impetus for their parents and siblings following years later. They also appear to have had a hand in taking care of Margaret's younger siblings who can be found living with them in 1920. Patrick's children and grandchildren married and settled in Pennsylvania, Michigan and California.

Owen Conville became a naturalized citizen in 1890 and married Sophia MacTamany (daughter of Margaret MacTamany) a year later in Lilly, Cambria Co., Pennsylvania. Owen worked as a coal miner until his early death in 1905.  He left his widow to raise their three young children, Mary A., George Gerald and Margaret Elizabeth. The children were raised in Lilly but in life, Sophia moved to Mellon Plan (Monroeville), Allegheny Co., Pennsylvania. Mary A. Conville married John Saunders and Margaret E. Conville married Roy Edward Price (son of Edward & Leona Price).
