Obituary*EXCELLENT WOMAN DIED; WAS MOTHER OF SIXTEEN

Mrs. S. E. Pratt, who died Thursday was the daughter of Jacob Bowman, and was born in the white house behind Sand's bakery on Fourth street, now occupied as a horseshoeing establishment on Mar 11, 1836. At the age of 15 she was married to Daniel E. Smith and this union was blessed by eight children, one of whom died in childhood. After Mr. Smith's death she married Horace Pratt, in 1891. Eight children were born to them. Of her sixteen children the following survive: George O. Smith of this city; Dr. William A. Pratt, of New York; James E. Pratt, of Portland, Ore.; Charles Ferris Pratt, of this city and Mrs. D. S. Miner, Mrs. William Humphries, and Mrs. J. H. Talmadge. Thirty-seven grand children survive. One sister, Mrs. Rittenhouse, of La Fargo, Wis., now 81 years of age, is also left to mourn.

Mrs. Pratt became a member of the Baptist Church early in life but later became an Adventist, in which faith she died. She attended to her religious duties with the greatest faith and all who knew her will be grieved to learn of the death of the true Christian woman.

The funeral services will be held this afternoon from the Seventh Day Adventist Church at 2 o'clock.

She was a true Christian woman and generous and kind to all and will be greatly missed.
