Bio Note"Oliver D. Skinner, grocer, Corry, Pa., was born near the present site of Corry, February 26, 1832. He was educated in the subscription schools of that day and remained on his father’s farm until 22 years of age, when he went to California, remaining five years. He returned to Corry, and was engaged in cattle dealing and droving for twenty-five years. He conducted the Oneida Meat Market one year, and in 1890, engaged in the grocery business, which he has since successfully managed at No. 4 East Washington street. Mr. Skinner was married May 19, 1860, to Miss Elizabeth Bemis, of Columbus, Pa., and to them have been born six children: Willis, drug salesman; Alline, at home; Elmer, Oliver, Edwin and Roy, Corry. Joseph Skinner was a native of Rhode Island in 1800, and came to Chenango county, New York, with his parents, where they both died. In 1826 he came to Erie county, and settled on eighty acres of land, part of which lied within the city limits of Corry, where he followed farming and lumbering. He was married to Julia Davis, also a native of Rhode Island. To them were born eleven children: Charles (deceased), Mary Ann, wife of Philo Stevens, Columbus; Morris, resident of Kansas; Olive D., Juliette, wife of Solon Wilcox; Honor, Mrs Philo Wright (deceased) Catherine wife of Newton Wright, Chautauqua county, New York, Alanson (deceased), Alice (deceased), and Marion (deceased). Joseph Skinner died in Corry, in 1849, and his wife in 1880). This gentleman was the first permanent settler in the city of Corry."; Principal=Joseph Skinner1
Bio Note*At the age of 14, he made his first cattle drive to Philadelphia. In 1854, he made the overland journey to California , being six months in crossing the plians. He returned in 1859.2

Bio NoteOtis Skinner was born Oct. 20, 1799, in Norwich, Chenango Co., N. Y., and, in 1823, removed to this town, and settled on lot 32. In 1868, he removed to the village, where he resided until his death, Aug. 7, 1872. He was a prominent citizen, and a leading member of the Baptist church. He was the first justice of the peace in the township while it was a part of the town of Clymer ; and he was supervisor of Mina when Sherman was a part of that town, and of Sherman since its erection. He was also for several years a justice of the sessions of the county court. He was married, June 9, 1822, to Sylance Randall, who was born March 10, 1802, in Richmond,N. H. They had 10 children, besides two who died in infancy: i. Joseph, who resides near the early homestead of his father. 2. Julia D., wife of Harrison Wade, who resides in Garland, Pa. 3. Sarah Jane, who resides in town, unmarried. 4. Eliza, wife of Calder Wolcott, who live on her father's early homestead. 5. James M., who died at 24. 6. Charles, who went to California ; enlisted in the war against the Indians, and died of fever at Great Salt Lake City, March 2, 1863. 7. Lovinia, who married Wm. H. Robbins, and resides in town. 8.
